Tend The Bar

Losing my mind over these cocktail napkins. Are they not the cutest? Ever since the revival of the bar cart, the home bar has become yet another competitive arena for stylistas. I'm concerned that some people have forgotten the most important part: the drinking. But since we're here, I cannot think of a more adorable way to adorn the bar or make your guests blackout. If you haven't noticed, Buffalo check is every damn where this season. I'm sure we'll all look back on this and say "too much?". But for now, get your flannel on like a lumberjack. Or someone from Seattle in '91. I was really loving this version from J Crew, but gave up when they didn't have anything but a 0 in the store. (I tried to talk the salesperson into talking me into the shirt fitting.) Lucky me, I then stumbled across this guy ^^ at Target! $20? Sold. It comes in multiple checks and color palettes. It's good quality and soft, but you MUST size up. This is a large. I'm usually a 2-4. Oh, guys, forgive my zipper. I swear my pants fit. (Ish.)

Holiday Gift Guide

Holy cow. I cannot believe we are standing on the very edge of the holiday season again. Wasn't it 80 degrees a week ago? Despite the fact that it inevitably means cold weather, I look forward to the holidays; I love the bustle and cheer. I don't know about you, but it's probably my most social time of year. Everyone is constantly celebrating. The usual excuses to back out of plans or parties do not cut it, cocktails are served at all hours: holiday breakfast=Bloody Marys and Poinsettias, holiday lunch=mimosas, holiday cocktail hour=eggnog/toddys/red wine. Lord help you if you make it to a holiday dinner. AND, despite the fact that most of us kick into high-gear socially, we all feel intense pressure to nail our holiday shopping. From sending out your Christmas cards to finding the perfect present for your great uncle, it is a total cluster. I mean, a wonderful one, but still. I'm always baffled by the people that are like, "oh I just finished my shopping" on August 1st. Like...what? Who are you? My brain doesn't operate that way. I am inevitably the person who holds up the poor girl working at Boutique Whatever trying to get home on Christmas Eve at 2 PM. I am attempting to do better this year, I am proud to say that I have already purchased two gifts thus far. *Victory dance.* Here on the blog I'll also be keeping a running Holiday Gift Guide with plenty of ideas for all things gift. Flowers Can Make Your Day

Pretty pretty florals to start your day; simple or supercharged, who doesn't love to get flowers? I love the anemones accents. It's amazing how much life a fresh arrangement can add to a room. It's an affordable luxury. Treat yourself!

Thanksgiving At Aerin's

You know who's better at everything than you? And me. Aerin Lauder. Her style is so effortless. She has a calm and confident demeanor from everything I've ever read or seen. Countless magazines have covered all aspects of her style over the years. I recently came across these shots from from Vogue of Aerin at her home, formerly her grandmother's, in Wainscott. Fittingly the shoot is holiday themed. As we head toward the season, I don't recall any of our family tables resembling what's going on here. But certainly it's something to aspire to! I particularly love her dark, cozy bar set before the fire. And that bedroom. It's dreamy. Are you guys Aerin fans too?
