Pattern Play

By Malene Birger Hot Pink Giacinto Dress
Loving this dress from By Malene Birger they just got in at Fleur. The floral/pink leopard pattern mix is amazing, a great example of how to mix very different patterns without an unpleasant outcome.

Going Grape Thanks

Happy Monday (Tuesday) everybody-I hope everyone got some fun in last weekend. On to important news: the Proenza Schouler PS1 pouch is here, and it is simply perfection. This suede grape color is all you need, crossbody with just enough room for all of your essentials; utilitarian, yet remove the strap and you have a show-stopping clutch. Also comes in black and a sick neon green, available now at Vermillion.

Zebras And Koi Fish And Chevron, Oh My

I am SOOOO excited, we just added Bon Vivant stationary to the Shop. Bon Vivant is the brainchild of graphic artist and Novel. Charleston showroom co-owner Liza Cleveland. Her designs marry whimsy and style; her work makes me actually want to write notes. All of these cards (and the others we have in the shop) can be customized to your hearts desire!

Do Me A Favor...

A.L.C.'s "Jess" Stretch Suede Skinny
EMERGENCY! If you are a size 10 you need to go IMMEDIATELY to The Outnet and buy these super-out-of-control stretch suede skinny pants from A.L.C. They are simply amazing, they are on sale, and they are almost gone. Come Fall, you'll thank me. Please someone do it, for all of us whose size is already gone.

Fashion Zoo

I came across the above picture on Pinterest a while ago and was immediately enamored with the dress (the beads! the colors!), but quickly realized the real prize here was the completely adorable ELEPHANT bag. A little bit of research, and I figured out that the bag is Kate Spade, and-from what I can tell-is sold out. Sad face. BUT, there is a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel because I now present to you: the ARMADILLO bag! Full of personality and kitsch, this wicker number is available now at Neiman's. It's sure to be a keepsake and conversation starter.

Gone Festing

This weekend we are heading down that gorgeous stretch of asphalt known as I-95 on our own version of "Into The Wild". Just me, two dingoes (dogs), and my slightly grumpy/groggy driver heading into the great unknown. Noo, we're really just going to a bluegrass festival. It's on a farm in a very rural part of South Carolina so it just seems a little exotic. Birdfest, as the festival is known, is celebrating its 10th year this year, and will be my second appearance as a bluegrass novice. I don't really know anything about bluegrass music, but I can tell you that some of the artists I saw last year were just mind-bogglingly good. There are toddlers, dogs, old people, RVs, Bill Murray (he lives in Charleston and likes music and partying apparently), even some fashionistas. It's good clean American fun; jean short wearin', beer drinkin' fun. I'm hoping to document some of the style and musical highlights for you! Oh, and to figure out what's up with the donkey.
Check out the festivus and join us next year!

Proenza Pop

The new Proenza bags are in at Vermillion. They are to die for. Get them now because I don't think they'll be there long. The bottom row is utterly spectacular. The picture doesn't do justice.

Floral Denim

Floral Denim

Floral prints are all over the place this year, from itty-bitty to huge graphic prints it's on everything from handbags to underwear and especially denim. It can be somewhat daunting, as I know many of us don't necessarily want to draw attention to our legs, but I think the beauty of this trend is how simple balancing out the look is. Pair any of these with a white T or blouse, or pull from the main color in the print and do a solid top. Easy breezy. As far as the skinnies go, I think Current/Elliott has the best prints, with the middle version being my favorite. But all the denim lines are doing them if you prefer a certain brand's fit, even H&M has some cute (AFFORDABLE) options!

Continuing Campaign For Orange

A little update from Van Jean, Columbia's shopping Mecca. I KNOW that your boyfriend/brother/husband will tell you that those Tibi pants are too much, but, as with most things in life, they don't get it. I LOVE the bright on bright here, and feel the same about the Hunter Dixon shirt dress/Roarke necklace below. Van Jean recently started carrying one of my fave neck accessory lines, Roarke, which has some roots in NC. These are a couple of the gorgeous hand-beaded confections currently in VJ.

Honor Thy Mother

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and got the chance to spend a little time honoring their mamas. I got to have an EXCLUSIVE brunch with my mother, sans dad and bro, at NOFO. It could not have been nicer. I would be nowhere without my mother, and one day is nowhere near enough to properly pay tribute to her. (Although, she will completely ruin this statement when she sees it by reminding me of this every time she needs to.) (You will mom.) We also got her this absolutely stunning necklace that she had been loving by Courtney Bell from Charlotte's, featuring vintage glass pearls and a reworked GORGEOUS broach. Below see my skinnyass mom behind her lumberjack breakfast. Yes, she ate the whole thing, and yes she weighs 95 pounds. Additionally see the truly tortuous display of truffles that NOFO has conveniently stationed next to the door.

Little White Dress

Little White Dress

I haaaate when people use the term LBD. It seems like such a dinosaur. But my protests typically fall on deaf ears. So I'm starting a revolution with: the Little White Dress. (No acronym-acronym right?) A crisp, simple white dress for summer is definitely something one needs in their closet just as much as any staple. With the right shape, you can take it anywhere. I've tried to give a couple of ways to wear this amazing white long sleeve version from Tibi.

1-3: Work look, throw on the Tibi blazer for a pop of color with the blush Alexander McQueen pumps, and the Tory Burch Amanda satchel. Together, yet fashion-forward.

4: Take off the jacket and switch to this INSANE rose-gold glitter Anya Hindmarch clutch (available at Vermillion, btw) and you're good to go for the night.

5 & 6, 7 & 8: Casual chic, you 100% absolutely need the Rag & Bone Newbury booties. They are amazing. They do go with everything. You need them. And, side note, I wish the detail in the Tory Burch beaded bag had shown up better-it's gorgeous and will totally be something you can revive later after it goes into retirement.

Cropping Up

Cropping Up

I've asked some friends to bear with me on the crop tops. I'm not suggesting we all go out and show off our belly button rings (please, if that's something you still have, take a moment to step away, remove, and place in trash). No, this trend is a bit more sophisticated. These tops are made to be paired with a high-waisted skirt, pants or shirt; in most cases just revealing a glimpse of skin. If you have the tummy for it, I say give it a try. I picture the Missoni top with a flowy high-waisted maxi skirt-would be such a fun summer beach look. Or take the opposite tack and follow the Miu Miu look with dark colorblocking; a more tailored look. Again, be thoughtful about putting together this look, more is more in this case, you've got to balance it out!
