Floral Denim

Floral Denim

Floral prints are all over the place this year, from itty-bitty to huge graphic prints it's on everything from handbags to underwear and especially denim. It can be somewhat daunting, as I know many of us don't necessarily want to draw attention to our legs, but I think the beauty of this trend is how simple balancing out the look is. Pair any of these with a white T or blouse, or pull from the main color in the print and do a solid top. Easy breezy. As far as the skinnies go, I think Current/Elliott has the best prints, with the middle version being my favorite. But all the denim lines are doing them if you prefer a certain brand's fit, even H&M has some cute (AFFORDABLE) options!

Little White Dress

Little White Dress

I haaaate when people use the term LBD. It seems like such a dinosaur. But my protests typically fall on deaf ears. So I'm starting a revolution with: the Little White Dress. (No acronym-acronym right?) A crisp, simple white dress for summer is definitely something one needs in their closet just as much as any staple. With the right shape, you can take it anywhere. I've tried to give a couple of ways to wear this amazing white long sleeve version from Tibi.

1-3: Work look, throw on the Tibi blazer for a pop of color with the blush Alexander McQueen pumps, and the Tory Burch Amanda satchel. Together, yet fashion-forward.

4: Take off the jacket and switch to this INSANE rose-gold glitter Anya Hindmarch clutch (available at Vermillion, btw) and you're good to go for the night.

5 & 6, 7 & 8: Casual chic, you 100% absolutely need the Rag & Bone Newbury booties. They are amazing. They do go with everything. You need them. And, side note, I wish the detail in the Tory Burch beaded bag had shown up better-it's gorgeous and will totally be something you can revive later after it goes into retirement.

Cropping Up

Cropping Up

I've asked some friends to bear with me on the crop tops. I'm not suggesting we all go out and show off our belly button rings (please, if that's something you still have, take a moment to step away, remove, and place in trash). No, this trend is a bit more sophisticated. These tops are made to be paired with a high-waisted skirt, pants or shirt; in most cases just revealing a glimpse of skin. If you have the tummy for it, I say give it a try. I picture the Missoni top with a flowy high-waisted maxi skirt-would be such a fun summer beach look. Or take the opposite tack and follow the Miu Miu look with dark colorblocking; a more tailored look. Again, be thoughtful about putting together this look, more is more in this case, you've got to balance it out!

Day To Night: Beach Edition

Day To Night: Beach Edition

Day To Night: Beach Edition

I am obviously on a bit of a tangerine kick, and totally checking out this Polyvore thing which I am completely new to. But it's a great outlet to really put together your outfits. It's like an on-line closet organizer. What better way to plan your looks than seeing them collaged together? On a model. I'm inspired to plan looks that can be transitional, and seem thoughtless (read: I want to look like I haven't spent the last 3 weeks thinking about this outfit, but I really have, so I hope you like it?). A few notes, Missoni bikini's are made in heaven, Ray Bans are the only aviator sunglasses you'll ever need, Balenciaga's woven bags are the jam, wear a hat it's good for you, and JORTS. That is all.

Colorblock: Neon Orange and Pink

I nearly ran into a lightpost looking at this dress on my phone this morning (walking-don't worry) from my daily trip to Starbucks (holler at my North Hills baristas). Colorblocking + neons is a super fun trend, and can look so chic when done right. The cut of this dress is perfect for summer-and while I've styled it for something a bit more formal, throw this puppy on with some strappy flat sandals and a cross-body bag and you could totally go casual with it.
