Valentino Resort '15

This insane Valentino Resort '15 collection draws inspiration from Frida Kahlo and the psychedelic '70s. It runs from beautifully and intricately detailed gowns to mod-ish mini-dresses. If The Shoe Fits

This little DVF number is one of my latest scores from The Outnet; I favor sack-shaped dresses and this one is perfection. But that is not what we're here to talk about today. What I want to share is the quest I went on to re-create the shoe look as pictured above. So I couldn't 100% identify the ones they paired with my dress, but they're awfully similar to these great Alice + Olivia pumps (as seen below). The "Dina" is a gorgeous, classic shoe that, at $295, isn't outrageously expensive but still isn't in my wheelhouse at the moment. SO. I set off on one of my interweb quests to find a suitable replacement at an attainable price. This story obviously has a happy ending, so I'll spare you the unpleasant details but I managed to find a really amazing stand-in from (*deep breaths*) Jessica Simpson. Seriously. I know you're probably skeptical. I was too, but they really are good and a great value. I was going to include a selfie as proof but the cropping action was a disaster. If I can work it out I'll add it later. Shop the shoes here or here; they're even on sale. I got them in black and in red and am very pleased with myself. Check out the JS (I feel better abbreviating) Laurin wedge too, I may pick that up for a good summer wedge.

Better Than New

This beauty is just one example of the gorgeous vintage at the House Of Landor show going on in Raleigh until tomorrow. I really wish there was a way for me to translate the beauty of this piece to y'all. The beading is inexplicable. I cannot begin to guess how much it would cost to re-create today. The under layer is light pink, which is marvelous against the shades of green of the beading. The back is a scoop style. It is magnificent. Art And Auctions

Had a lovely Saturday night at one of my favorite places, the NC Museum of Art, lending a helping hand for the Art of the Auction event. The event featured both silent and live auctions to raise money for our beautiful state museum. I was the "bodyguard" for the beautiful collar necklace from Carole Tanenbaum, which was a hot item in the live auction. I also really adored "Pink", a painting by artist Annie Wharton. What I felt was super chic about this piece was that the canvas was wrapped in this gorgeous orangey-red vinyl, which almost made it look as it the canvas was lacquered. The picture does not do it justice. I wore this most exquisite Lela Rose dress from Vermillion, you may remember it was one of my faves. I also had this gorgeous blingy bracelet by Palm Beach Vintage from Fleur (people kept asking if they could bid on it)! See above for some of the other new jewels at Fleur-I considered taking them all and making a break for it. Are those yellow earrings not perfectly rad????
