Vintage At Charlotte's

Hermès H Bracelet + Michael Kors Gold Watch
Already a mainstay for all of your jewelry and accessory needs, Charlotte's is now expanding its collection of luxury vintage......which is a major development for my shopping problem. Timeless Hermès belts and bracelets along with mint Louis Vuitton and Chanel handbags and travel pieces are available now! Every piece is in exquisite condition, some even look brand new. The thing that I love about classic vintage pieces is that they are really legacy pieces. You will always recognize the iconic LV, the interlocking Cs, the quilting. They can be handed down through generations. They have set a brand standard that is so high that vintage is sometimes coveted more than brand new. That's why the investment is worth it. The pieces stand up in any decade, and never look dated. They are begging to be styled for today. Below are just a few of the vintage pieces (along with some great styling ideas) that are in store right now, with many more to come. If you are on the hunt for a specific piece or want to hold anything contact either Charlotte's location.

Better Than New

Be still my heart...

This beauty is just one example of the gorgeous vintage at the House Of Landor show going on in Raleigh until tomorrow. I really wish there was a way for me to translate the beauty of this piece to y'all. The beading is inexplicable. I cannot begin to guess how much it would cost to re-create today. The under layer is light pink, which is marvelous against the shades of green of the beading. The back is a scoop style. It is magnificent. If you'd like the contact info for the show, or details on their services, email me at southernarrondissement@gmail.com!

Photobomb

In case you missed this spattered across our social media today, this is a shot from a little shoot that the fantastic and kind Jack Morton of Morton Photography did for Ramey Rhodes recently. He is so talented and easy, especially for two people as photo-phobic as Lauren and I. Some other exceptionally important shout-outs here: thanks to Evie of Finds here in Raleigh who allowed us to use their amazing new space. You MUST go see her, and buy that fabulous couch. Her Facebook and blog is a trove of furnishing "finds" and inspiration. And, I cannot thank Dawn and Debra of Glam Lounge (on West Street here in Raleigh), who are my hair and makeup gurus. They are genius (geniuses?), Dawn has long been my hair idol, and Debra made my undereye bags vanish like magic. I adore them. I must say, looking at that list, it's an amazing squad of talented people. Grateful to work with and be supported by every single one of them.

Ooh, and stay tuned, the Ramey Rhodes website is coming soooon! (Oh yeah, and eventually clothes too!!!)

Shine On

Carole Tanenbaum vintage collar necklace

The most dangerous event of the year is happening at Vermillion right now. The Carole Tanenbaum vintage collection is in-store and blinding. The gorgeous collars are always my favorites, but there is so much to see (although it's selling fast). The collection is in town until Friday-get these on your wish list!

InstaStyle

Pretty pleased with my Paul & Joe Sister baby leopard dress and chartreuse Malene Birger scarf from Fleur.

Rowr.

I love the turquoise embroidery and ruffle detail on this vintage shift from Library in Charleston.

Had to share this detail shot from Proenza. Just gorgeous. And yes, I follow Zillow too.

My favorite auction item from the Raleigh Roundup on Friday. "Best Fransssss" (or "Best Friends"). #Moo

Decor Challenge: Finding The Right Rug

I am loving this ikat rug featured on One Kings Lane. I've been keeping my eye out for something like this, but in my head it's more like an Oriental rug but in navys and creams. Does that exist?? OK, so yes, see below, but that's got to be a once in a lifetime find right? (Besides probably costing a fortune.) But that's what I want, something with that heavy, worn in hand with a vintage look. Rugs are tough. They're an unexpectedly expensive investment in many cases. I like the idea of a rug adding personality or pattern or texture to a room while keeping the furniture clean and simple. I think it gives a sense of space. I like the chevron look you see a lot of as well, but I don't know if it quite has the character I am envisioning. It's fun to look, and as we all know, someone has already had the same idea you have and put it on Pinterest, so there's plenty of inspiration out there.

Honor Thy Mother

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and got the chance to spend a little time honoring their mamas. I got to have an EXCLUSIVE brunch with my mother, sans dad and bro, at NOFO. It could not have been nicer. I would be nowhere without my mother, and one day is nowhere near enough to properly pay tribute to her. (Although, she will completely ruin this statement when she sees it by reminding me of this every time she needs to.) (You will mom.) We also got her this absolutely stunning necklace that she had been loving by Courtney Bell from Charlotte's, featuring vintage glass pearls and a reworked GORGEOUS broach. Below see my skinnyass mom behind her lumberjack breakfast. Yes, she ate the whole thing, and yes she weighs 95 pounds. Additionally see the truly tortuous display of truffles that NOFO has conveniently stationed next to the door.

All That Glitters

What's one of my favorite things? Vintage costume jewelry! Yayyyy! Vermillion in Raleigh is having their Spring trunk show this week starting on Wednesday (May 9th) and running through Saturday. I can't tell you how overwhelming the trunk show is. There are so many sparkly, colorful baubles-I start to get nervous. But they also have some more deco-disco-sleek pieces too, that are to die for, I just love how the sparkly stuff tickles my senses like champagne bubbles. Check out more of the sneak peek on the Vermillion Facebook page.
