If The Shoe Fits

This little DVF number is one of my latest scores from The Outnet; I favor sack-shaped dresses and this one is perfection. But that is not what we're here to talk about today. What I want to share is the quest I went on to re-create the shoe look as pictured above. So I couldn't 100% identify the ones they paired with my dress, but they're awfully similar to these great Alice + Olivia pumps (as seen below). The "Dina" is a gorgeous, classic shoe that, at $295, isn't outrageously expensive but still isn't in my wheelhouse at the moment. SO. I set off on one of my interweb quests to find a suitable replacement at an attainable price. This story obviously has a happy ending, so I'll spare you the unpleasant details but I managed to find a really amazing stand-in from (*deep breaths*) Jessica Simpson. Seriously. I know you're probably skeptical. I was too, but they really are good and a great value. I was going to include a selfie as proof but the cropping action was a disaster. Art And Auctions

Had a lovely Saturday night at one of my favorite places, the NC Museum of Art, lending a helping hand for the Art of the Auction event. The event featured both silent and live auctions to raise money for our beautiful state museum. I was the "bodyguard" for the beautiful collar necklace from Carole Tanenbaum, which was a hot item in the live auction. I also really adored "Pink", a painting by artist Annie Wharton. What I felt was super chic about this piece was that the canvas was wrapped in this gorgeous orangey-red vinyl, which almost made it look as it the canvas was lacquered. The picture does not do it justice. I wore this most exquisite Lela Rose dress from Vermillion, you may remember it was one of my faves. I also had this gorgeous blingy bracelet by Palm Beach Vintage from Fleur (people kept asking if they could bid on it)! See above for some of the other new jewels at Fleur-I considered taking them all and making a break for it. Are those yellow earrings not perfectly rad????

I had a wonderful weekend celebrating one of my most special friend's big day. It was nothing short of spectacular, thank you very much. I had a lot of compliments on my footwear-these gorgeous gold and silver sandals from Sam Edelman. As usual with Sam Edelman, there are several color-ways, AND, they're on sale!

Beach It

I hope you are all headed off to sunshine and cocktails this holiday weekend. The key to packing for long weekends is to edit. Being a beach blog doesn't really require a whole lot attire-wise. Pack a scarf of wrap like the LemLem (pictured above), or a Turkish-T towel. They basically double as a cute sarong or wrap. You guys probably know that I love Marysia Swim for bathing suits. This season is no exception. Pack a "puttering about" outfit. Joie has been amazing this season, you can't beat these printed shorts and basic tank. Add jewelry if you need to feel fancy. We usually eat out one night for beach weekends; something like the insane Tibi pleated chiffon dress is great because it looks really effortless and beachy, but is completely gorgeous. Throw everything in this SICK Tory Burch weekender suitcase. Have a FABULOUS weekend!

Perfect Black Flats

Jeffrey Campbell "In Love" d'Orsay flat

Don't worry, I found you the perfect black flat. I know you need one. Several things: Jeffrey Campbell is one of my favorite lower-price point shoe go-tos. Good, consistent fit and they ALWAYS do a range of basics with seasonal trends. Also, the d'Orsay shape is probably my favorite shoe style. It's so sophisticated and feminine. This pair, the "In Love" flats (I kid you not, that's the name, I did not name them), has the wonderful little elastic piece at the back of the heel that helps keep them on your feet.
