Blue Suede Shoes

Navy Stuart Weitzman Nudist Heels Suede Wedding Shoes Southern Arrond

So I'll be sharing some details from our wedding at Alys Beach over the next few days--I'll try not to make it too eye-roll inducing; honestly I love our photographer so much it seems silly not to share. Let's start with a pretty basic (but so not Basic) wedding item, bridal shoes! I was pretty hell-bent on having these Jimmy Choos for months, but I eventually came to my senses as I tried to navigate budget + sanity. (Also here just not as "on sale".) I still love them but I think you can only quasi-justify the price if it's something you'll wear very frequently. (**Obviously "justify" is a loose term when discussing $1,000 shoes, I know, don't yell at me.**) Ultimately I decided to get a little creative; it's not like the Choos were super complicated and I realized I could re-create the look at a significantly better price. The Stuart Weitzman Nudist heels are a staple in a lot of blogger's closets, they come in about a million colors, and with a little leg work I found a beautiful navy suede version over on Forward. With a little bit of cleverly placed tulle I had the look of the Choos, ethereal right? I got my something blue, and I know I'll get a lot more wear out of the Stuart Weitzmans in the long run. I look forward to sharing more tidbits with you!

Memorial Day Packing List

We are heading down to the famous 30A beaches of Florida for the Memorial holiday to check out the Watercolor Inn & Spa to see what's shaking and I'm pumped. Obviously packing is a process, and I think streamlining is important. Now I've totally over-streamlined before and ended up with like, a ratty tee shirt and a pair of dress pants as my only wardrobe options, so thoughtful streamlining is critical. Pack at least one outfit that is acceptable for public consumption and then figure out your loungewear situation.

A cute coverup, like this one from Shoshanna, will serve you well-it's enough of an outfit for most beachy dining options by day and will give you confidence on the beach. Especially if you're not ready for swimsuit weather. Skinny minnies should 100% invest in a Marysia swimsuit. I heart them all. I love love love these cute and well-priced sandals from Splendid, and I really like the silver version as well. They're a tad dressier.

I use my Lands End totes as suitcases all the time, and I love this berry color. They come in zip and non-zip options, non-zip makes for the BEST beach bag. They are such a great price point and are virtually indestructible.

For extras, I think a floppy straw hat is not only stylish, it's practical. This one from Old Navy is a steal. While you're at it, don't forget the sunscreen; Beautycounter does an excellent, healthy SPF 30 allover version. I also think packing a statement necklace is a great move, if you throw it on with a tank top or a simple sundress you've got a look. Especially if you fumble on the clothing packing. One of the Sylvia Necklaces from Loren Hope is perfect, just pick your favorite color!

Color Code: Spring Bags

Since it's March, apparently, I think I'm ready for color! Considering updating with a bright new bag, and there are soo many good ones to choose from right now. I particularly love the blushy-pink Chloe "Lizzie" satchel; I feel like it adds some color but is close enough to neutral to work with a lot of palettes. Click the bags to shop!

Travel: Wes Anderson Style

Since we're snow-bound today, I found myself going down a good, old-fashioned Instagram rabbit hole and found this amazing Wes Anderson-inspired luggage collection from a company called Very Troubled Child. I'm a big Wes Anderson fan and, unless you're new here, you know I'm pretty much a sucker for fine leather goods featuring giraffes and elephants and the Darjeeling range of travel bags has both + ZEBRAS (and other adorable exotic creatures). Add the monogram and I'm all in. With luggage as magical as this, you essentially have to take a fabulous trip. Where to?

Shop the Darjeeling bags here and VTC's range of Wes Anderson goodies here (which are great gift ideas for Wes Anderson fans).

Darden

Have y'all seen the new Darden Clutch from RR yet? It's a bit bigger than the original, and I'm loving the new prints. I think the emerald dots are perfect for the holidays! We've also got a suede version in the works that I'm rill excited about. How do you guys feel about monogramming? I've been contemplating adding the option, and possibly stamping for the leather versions. I'm not a huge monogrammer but I like the simple block letter look. We'll see! The Darden makes an excellent stocking stuffer, if I do say so myself. Shop them here, and hurry hurry before they're gone!

Holiday Red

Tis the season to break out your favorite shade of red. As with many colors, it's important to find the right red for you. I happen to favor orange-leaning reds. This little mini immediately caught my eye over at J Crew; it's my favorite shade of red + I'm obsessed with the gold zipper details. It also comes in winter white and black, which I'm considering since I LOVE this dress so much and I know how much wear I could get out of white or black. I also snagged my beloved fur-trimmed Chateau Parka, which also features gorgeous gold details and lots of pockets. The swing shape is another plus. I had the hardest time deciding between black, camel and gray. They're all gorgeous. I'm thinking this look + tights and black booties is my Christmas look for the year.

If you're still Cyber Monday shopping, essentially this whole look is on sale today, so take advantage now! And click over here for my comprehensive Cyber Monday sale list-alphabetized for your convenience! And if you need some gift ideas be sure to check out the Gift Guide for a little guidance!

Baubles

Do you guys ever shop Bauble Bar? I find myself perusing their site A LOT this time of year; while I love getting dolled up for holiday parties, my budget often limits me from going crazy on a new outfit. Solution? Hit up Bauble Bar for statement jewels at crazy good prices. Here are a few of my current favorites, but they've really got a little of everything. Monograms, dainty bits, they've got it all. Definitely check them out for gift ideas or to give your holiday outfit a boost!

Fall Shopping List: Animal Print Flats

A must-have for me this year was an animal print flat. Since I wear a lot of black or white the print really pops, and, if you're like me, a little goes a long way. It's the perfect way to add some interest to a monochrome look without adding color. This pair of Steve Maddens were an absolute steal, already under $80, and then I scooped them up on sale at Piperlime. They sold out there, but are still available here. I HIGHLY recommend them. Check out more options below, there's something for every price range!

Fall Shopping List: Peep Toe Booties

Coat Veronica Beard via Vermillion, Tank Madewell, Booties Mia, Skinny Jeans Rocket High Rise COH

Back to the Fall Shopping List! Peep toe booties are everywhere, and I particularly like the more casual, stacked heel versions that are really almost "slingback" in nature. They look sleek from the front, but you get the support of the stack heel in the back. Kinda party in the front, business in the back? The pair I'm wearing above, from Mia, are SO. VERY. COMFORTABLE. I can wear them all day with no qualms or complaining. Even wore them tailgating! I've paired them with everything from shorts and jeans to dresses and they look great. Did I mention they're under $75? I love that they aren't delicate, and the combination of design elements (stacked heel, peep toe, etc.) really let the shoes make the outfit. Wear them with jeans and a sweater and it looks like you tried. A great everyday option. See below for more options!

1. Mia Esperanza (steal!!!)  |  2. Seychelles Discovery (steal!!!)

3. Rag & Bone Wyatt  | 4. Vince Addison or try the Faye

UPDATE 9.24.15: try this style from Dolce Vita (or this version in black) over on Shopbop, or this great option from Joe's here and here. I also like the Splendid Janet or the fringey Fume by Belle.
if your favorite is sold out!

Novel | Furbish | Pop-Up

I popped into the Charleston trunk show at Furbish yesterday to check in with the über-talented ladies of the Novel. showroom; those ladies being Liza of Bon Vivant, Lauren of Library, Jane of Jane Pope Jewelry and artist Way Way Allen. Furbish was serving up White Whale cocktails and there was entirely too much amazingness. I mean, y'all see those "Hola" notecards ^^^, right? The gorgeous pale pink opal Jane Pope earrings are on my Christmas list, well, I guess they are my Christmas list. Lauren's gorgeous Library collection was on display AND you folks that couldn't make the show yesterday are SO fortunate, because you can shop her collection on Furbish today!!! Check out the pop-up here. Speaking of, you may have recently seen Way Way's Furbish pop-up, which was featured on the site a few weeks ago. Her warm, abstract paintings are so perfect for adding soft color to a room, check out more of her work on her gorgeous website here. In short, if you missed it, you missed out! :)
