 First of all, I love navy. It's such a wonderful alternative to black. Navy is the new black? I really wish I could claim that navy hat and polka dotted dress. (Going to try this tan hat instead.) Secondly, for some odd reason I've really liked a bunch of spotty stuff lately; I'm usually not an animal print person, but there I a right way and a wrong way to do it I suppose. Por ejemplo this amazing Clare Vivier spotted clutch or the contrast of a leopard coat against all black and Céline.

The return of the sun has me thinking beaches, boats, and bathing suits, which has led me to an abundance of stripes. Is there anything more summer?

Inspiration: Red + Bling + A Match?

I love this image. It's super striking, and pretty glamorous. The red + bling + big hair = pow! 

I will say, at first I thought she was lighting a ciggy, which gave me pause. Then I realized it, for some odd reason, is a matchstick. I do NOT endorse smoking cigarettes, but I guess if you want to smoke matches, go for it? 

Rhinestone Cowgirl

I don't usually Clover Canyon, but when I do-it's these shorts. (Cue the laugh track.) No but really, I'm obsessed with these rhinestone shorts from Clover Canyon. The melon color makes my heart skip a beat. And, don't freak out, but there's a matching tuxedo style jacket. 

Pattern Play

Soo...anybody got any thoughts on these? I know that I still have yet to unveil the first season of Ramey Rhodes, but as you all know fashion is typically 6+ months ahead of where we currently are. SO, you have to start thinking that way. There's a really cool startup company out of Durham, NC called Spoonflower that allows people to design and then print their own textiles. It's pretty darn neato. So I've been playing around with designs (I can be considered no more than a total novice), and these are some things I came up with. Just playing around-chime in if you've got feedback!

Happy Valentine's Day! Isn't this poppy-hued eyelet Thakoon Addition dress perfectly sweet for the day? Great for now with a jacket and booties. I'll be sporting this frock from now into Summer!

Red...

In an obvious nod to one of the most undoubtedly commercially-driven holidays out there: let's take a quick look at some red-based accessories. This prim little set is anchored by this RED Valentino Bow tote. Adorable and sweet-it comes in black too if you want something a tad more subtle. Keep your products organized in this cute yet sensible Tory Burch "Brigitte" cosmetics case. And obviously, decorate with my faves (Heat Wave lipstick and Domiva nail polish) from NARS.

I know I've been doing a lot of home items this week, but it's just that time of year that I am somewhat scrambling for fashion inspiration. Spring is starting to trickle into stores, which is exciting but almost tortuous, because there are limits to transition pieces. I mean. There are just some colors that (for 99% of us) can't be worn in the dead of winter. Anyhoo, we're in the nesting season. It's cold. It's rainy and dreary. Looking at pictures or vibrant or cozy living spaces makes me feel better. This beautiful entryway by Georgia-based designer Anisa Darnell, of the design duo that makes up Milk+Honey Home, is totally country chic. Who'da thought black and white floral wallpaper would work? It's a create mix of country and contemporary. Looks cozy, and perfect-complete with Hunter boots-for a rainy winter day!

Gray Day

Gray is one of my favorite neutrals. It's one of my favorite non-colors. I like to wear it and live amongst it. Is that depressing?

Spring '14...Seriously...

Not too long ago I was talking about the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year Emerald, and just like that I'm discussing the 2014 Spring palette. What? Yup. Can you imagine? Anyhoo, this is a preview of what Pantone is predicting for 2014. A pretty delicate palette if I do say so myself. I am hoping some stronger pops will develop from this base; I do enjoy all of the air-time green has (sorry, will) be getting for the next two years.

The word is out: Pantone's Color of the Year for 2013 is Emerald. And the crowd goes wild!!! Just kidding. But, really. I love emerald. It's one of those hues, much like turquoise or coral, that can be found in their most vibrant state in nature, and translate so well to fashion and decor. The richness of emerald just feels decadent in any form. What do you think? Will you wear it? Cover a sofa in it?
