One In A "Vermillion"

When I moved back home after college and set out to find a job, it just so happened that a wonderful family friend of ours was in the process of opening a new store. Ashley (Vermillion) Harris, the owner, had years of experience working in a very high-end store and really wanted to bring that level of style and taste to a younger customer, and she was bringing in designers that were exciting and different. So I essentially threw myself at her and begged to be hired. I'm happy to say that Ashley took pity on me and let me come to work for her and her husband at Vermillion.

The store, which they designed with Perry Poole (husband of Laura Vinroot Poole, owners of the famed Capitol in Charlotte), is a gorgeous space-clean and modern with a teak wall and rich draperies in a red-ish orange hue (vermillion would be the color I believe). Vermillion, from the beginning, has been bringing fresh perspective on fashion to Raleigh. Ashley consistently seeks out new labels and emerging talent; her taste is elegant, sophisticated, and unique.

It was such a fashion education to work there and work with such amazing labels, and fantastic to work for people who were so eager to promote new designers.

 That's the other thing that makes Vermillion so fabulous: Ashley and the girls will bend over backwards to take care of their customers. They are ever thoughtful of what a particular customer may love, and they just go out of their way to make their customers happy.
